Raiders Set to Face One of the Better QBs in the NFL

In this story:
Divisional games in the NFL are always interesting as both teams are familiar with each other after years of playing against each other twice every season.
Each roster sees its fair share of turnover, but most teams have a cornerstone that stands out to the opposing coaching staff.
When analyzing the Los Angeles Chargers offense, the Raiders first must find a way to contain quarterback Justin Herbert.
"Obviously [Justin] Herbert, I mean, look at any category you want, he's really at or near the top of it in every situation," Raiders Coach Josh McDaniels said. "He has taken care of the ball, has a big arm, and can move it down the field.
"They've got a lot of big targets and drafted another one in the first round this year in [Quentin] Johnston. [Keenan] Allen is obviously one of the best players at his position in the National Football League. [Austin] Ekeler, what can you say about Austin, he leads the league in touchdowns the last two years and catches the ball, blocks, runs with it after the catch."
Defensive coordinator Patrick Graham of the Raiders shared his views on how tough it is to coach and play against Herbert and the Chargers' offense.
"(Herbert) has access to the entire field, true access to the entire field; He has a big arm and can throw it anywhere on the field," Graham said. "I'm not a quarterbacks coach, I don't know how they describe the different ways. He just gets the ball anywhere on the field. I think you're seeing his intelligence in terms of at the line of scrimmage; they're going more with the tempo and different things they're doing there.
"He's getting more and more comfortable and that comes with experience. So, you're seeing a quarterback out there who is comfortable making decisions. They are giving him more responsibility. He can make all the throws; he can hurt you with his legs. He’s a really dynamic player and it's going to be fun to go against him."
It will be important that the Raiders' defense contains Herbert long enough for Las Vegas' offense to get it together.
The Silver and Black return to the road this week in Inglewood, Calif., to play the Los Angeles Chargers (1-2) on Sunday, Oct. 1, at 4:05 p.m. EDT/1:05 p.m. PDT.
