Raiders' Defense Unable to Contain Chiefs' Offense

In this story:
The Las Vegas Raiders started Sunday's game against the Kansas City Chiefs about as well as any team could ask for.
Las Vegas' defense held quarterback Patrick Mahomes and the Chiefs offense to only 13 total yards on their first two possessions and built a 14-0 lead.
The Raiders' offense scored touchdowns on two of their first three drives. Las Vegas' offense has struggled on third downs this season, but converted their first five third-down attempts of the game, which came during those first two drives.
The Raiders would hold the Chiefs to a total of seven plays, not including punts, the first two times they had the ball. However, after forcing the Chiefs to quickly punt on their first two possessions, the Chiefs would score 21 unanswered points.
This included touchdowns on their final two possessions before the half to tie the score, 14-14, and a touchdown on their first drive after halftime to take the lead.
After jumping out to an early lead, the Raiders would find themselves playing catch-up to the Chiefs, a position most teams are unable to recover from.
Patrick Mahomes showed why he's the best quarterback in the league. He finished the game with 298 passing yards, two touchdowns and no interceptions.
Las Vegas was only able to sack Mahomes only once, as he used his elusiveness to extend plays long enough for receivers to get open.
Tight end Travis Kelce had six catches for 91 yards, but Kansas City's leading receiver was wide receiver Rashee Rice. The rookie from Southern Methodist had the best game of his career, with eight receptions for 107 yards and a touchdown.
Kansas City's offense has been nearly impossible for most defenses in the National Football League to contain for an entire game and Sunday was no different for the Raiders' defense.
The Raiders jumped out to a double-digit lead against the Chiefs, only to lose the game. Las Vegas lost to the Chiefs in a similar fashion last season after having an early 17-point lead.
The Raiders' defense had the tough task of stopping, or at least slowing down, the defending Super Bowl champions, who have one of the most explosive offenses in the National Football League.
Las Vegas' defense will have the opportunity to do so again in a few weeks in Kansas City.
The Silver and Black will return home to Allegiant Stadium to take on the Minnesota Vikings on Sunday, December 10, at 4:05 p.m. EST/1:05 p.m. PST.
