NFL Analyst Recognizes Ken Stabler For Compelling Life

The recent Netflix documentary, "Quarterback," has been well-received by the NFL world as football fans get ready for the 2023-24 season.
The show followed the 2022 season through the lens of three NFL quarterbacks: Patrick Mahomes, Kirk Cousins and Marcus Mariota.
On Monday, the "Good Morning Football" panel gave their opinions in an interesting segment that focused on the question: what former NFL quarterback would you like to see featured on Netflix's "Quarterback."
NFL analyst Peter Schrager, the first to make a pick, went with Raiders legend and Pro Football Hall of Famer Ken Stabler.
"Steve Sabol used to do all of these sit-downs with these players -- the late great Steve Sabol -- and these guys would come in, and you'd get these, like, chance[s] to look at their lives," Schrager said. "That was all the access we really got as kids. The vintage NFL Films stuff of Ken Stabler, 'The Snake,' I would love anything to be in a pool hall with Ken Stabler down in Alabama; this is the guy. Rippin' cigs, taking behind-the-back shots will the pool cue. Like, this guy lived the life both on the field and off the field and embodied everything with the Raiders when the Raiders were like a savage team and Al Davis was like: 'We hate the league, and let's go win it instead.'
" ... Ken Stabler lived a life. That guy lived a football life."
Former NFL cornerback Jason McCourty followed the pick up with Hall-of-Fame quarterback Dan Marino, while GMF co-host Kyle Brandt finished the segment with his choice: Los Angeles Chargers legend Philip Rivers.
Stabler played the first 10 seasons of his 15-year career with the Silver and Black.
Snake finished his career with a Super Bowl title, an MVP, an Associated Press Offensive Player of the Year award, four Pro-Bowl visits and one AP first-team All-Pro selection.
The Silver and Black open the preseason by hosting the San Francisco 49ers on Sunday, Aug. 13, at 4 p.m. EDT/1 p.m. PDT.
