Who Will Take the Next Step in the Raiders LB Room?

The Raiders are entering the season with many questions that need to be answered for this upcoming season.

One question the Raiders need to solve before the season starts is who will take the lead in the linebacker room.

According to Pro Football Focus, the Raiders are listed as the 30th-best linebacker unit. The website mentions that the Raiders finished the 2022-23 season as the third-lowest-graded linebacking corps in the NFL.

Two linebackers are predicted to start in the Raiders' linebacker room, Divine Deablo, and Robert Spillane.

Deablo has become the prominent leader in the Raiders' linebacker room. He is entering his third season with the Raiders. Last season, he played eight games in which he finished with a total of 38 tackles, with 35 of them being solo tackles.

Spillane is a newly signed linebacker the Raiders brought in this offseason. The former Pittsburgh Steeler, who spent three seasons with them, is entering his fourth NFL season. Last season, he finished with 79 tackles, 52 solo tackles, and one sack. He has a career total of 191 tackles, three sacks, and one interception.

Spillane shared with the media during Raiders Mini Camp and mentioned what it is like to work with another starting linebacker, Divine Deablo.

"He comes to work every day. … He had said that about me yesterday. But I love Divine because he's willing to communicate, he's willing to be a good partner. And any good defense has two inside linebackers who really play well off each other. So, this is the time for us right now to really understand each other’s skill sets and learn how to grow together."

Luke Masterson also is a player in the Raiders linebacker room who can take the next step this NFL season. He is entering his sophomore season with the Silver and Black. As an undrafted free agent, he had an excellent rookie season. He played in all 17 games with the Silver and Black, in which he finished with 59 tackles, 30 being solo.

This upcoming 2023-24 Season will be enjoyable to see who will take the next step in the Raiders linebacker room.
