Maxx Crosby Earns Respect from All-Pro Lineman

Offensive tackle Lane Johnson named Las Vegas Raiders star Maxx Crosby as a top-five pass rusher in the NFL.

Las Vegas Raiders star Maxx Crosby has developed into one of the best defensive ends in the NFL over the past four seasons.

Since joining the Raiders, Crosby has grown into a feared pass rusher around the NFL, posting 20.5 sacks in the last two seasons and being named to two straight Pro Bowls.

Over that period, Crosby’s development has caught the eye of his contemporaries around the league.

Philadelphia Eagles All-Pro offensive tackle Lane Johnson was a former NFL cornerback Richard Sherman’s podcast guest and named Crosby, a top-five pass rusher in the league.

When naming the best five pass rushers, Crosby was one of the first three names he mentioned, along with Myles Garrett of the Cleveland Browns and TJ Watt of the Pittsburgh Steelers.

“They’re all so unique,” Johnson said on The Richard Sherman Podcast. “I would say, you know, Myles [Garrett], I think Maxx Crosby is a really good player, you know, TJ Watt, those guys, they’re so - obviously they’re skilled, but those players, they’re so smart. They look at your stances, they’re looking at your eyes, a lot of stuff. Maybe you can get away with it with lesser players, buy those guys there, you have to be at your best.”

These comments are high praise coming from an elite offensive lineman like Johnson, who has twice been named a First-Team All-Pro and has been selected to four Pro Bowls. Johnson is widely considered one of the best offensive tackles in the NFL.

Johnson’s comments about Crosby’s football IQ make sense, as Crosby has added to his pass-rushing repertoire each offseason. Crosby was recently at Von Miller’s pass rush summit, learning from other elite pass rushers and teaching them things he has learned in the NFL.

As Crosby continues to develop into one of the league’s best defensive players, the work he has put in is evident in his production, and his rise to stardom has not gone unnoticed by one of the NFL’s best offensive linemen in, Lane Johnson.

Crosby will likely have another good season in 2023 as he continues to develop as a pass rusher.
