Minnesota Vikings offensive coordinator Wes Phillips was arrested and charged with driving while impaired on Friday evening, according to a report from NFL Network’s Tom Pelissero.

The Minnesota State Patrol pulled over Phillips, and he blew a .008 on the breathalyzer. He was booked in the Hennepin County jail, released a few hours later and was charged with misdemeanor operation of a vehicle while under the influence of alcohol.

According to Minnesota State Patrol Lt. Jill Frankfurth, Phillips “showed signs of impairment” after he was pulled over on Interstate 394 for speeding. His blood alcohol content registered at 0.10 percent and the legal limit in the state of Minnesota is 0.08 percent.

Phillips will appear in court on Dec. 21.

The Vikings took off for Las Vegas earlier today to take on the Raiders tomorrow, and Phillips was on that flight.

On Saturday, Nov. 25, Raiders safety Roderic Teamer was arrested and charged with misdemeanor DUI and speeding. He was released from the team the following Monday.

Teamer was considered questionable for the game that Sunday against the Kansas City Chiefs after being activated off the Injured Reserve List, but was downgraded to out.

The Vikings released a statement on Phillips’ arrest: "Wes immediately notified the team following his arrest last night. This morning we contacted the NFL, and after internal discussion, made the decision that Wes will travel with the team to Las Vegas this afternoon. We will continue to gather information regarding the incident and have further comment at the appropriate time.”

Phillips, the son of former NFL coach Wade Phillips and grandson of NFL coach Bum Phillips, has spent several years as an assistant coach in the NFL.

In addition, Phillips was tight ends coach and passing game coordinator on the Los Angeles Rams under Coach Kevin O’Connell, who brought Phillips to Minnesota when he was hired as head coach.

Phillips was a quarterback at the University of Texas-El Paso from 1999 to 2001.

According to Pelissero, the Vikings and the NFL will determine any potential disciplinary action as the legal process plays out. Despite his arrest on Friday night, Phillips will be coaching against the Raiders on Sunday.

The Silver and Black will return home to Allegiant Stadium in Las Vegas to take on the Minnesota Vikings on Sunday, December 10, at 4:05 p.m. EST/1:05 p.m. PST.
