Raiders' Offense Puts It Together Just In Time

In this story:
Rookie quarterback Aidan O'Connell and the Las Vegas Raiders pulled out a tough, 16-12 victory over the New York Jets on Sunday night at Allegiant Stadium.
O'Connell threw for 153 yards, one touchdown, and an interception.
The game saw seven field goals between the two teams, and the Raiders didn't take the lead until late in the fourth quarter.
Last week, Interim Coach Antonio Pierce said that getting running back Josh Jacobs over the 100-yard mark was a priority after Jacobs came up short against the New York Giants with 98 yards.
This week, Jacobs and the offensive line delivered, as he rushed for 116 yards on 27 carries. It was Jacobs' first time rushing for more than 100 yards this season.
Jacobs played his best game of the season but had a fumble late in the game that almost cost the Raiders the game.
"I was just hoping the defense didn't let me down on that one," Jacobs said. "I didn't want to be the reason we lost."
All-Pro wide receiver Davante Adams led the Raiders with 86 receiving yards, and tight end Michael Mayer scored a highlight-reel worthy seven-yard touchdown catch to put the Raiders ahead for good in the fourth quarter.
Facing one of the best defenses in the league, O'Connell again managed the game well enough to lead the Raiders to a win.
"It was a tough game; it was up and down, and obviously, we were down and had to come back," O'Connell said.
"The second half was up-and-down; even each drive, there were ups-and-downs, getting second-and-short and then a penalty, or a bad play by us, or a negative play on first-and-10 and behind the stick.
"So, it was kind of just all over the place and definitely not a super clean performance from us.
"But it's really hard to win in the National Football League, as I'm learning. I’m just really proud of our guys. Our defense and special teams did an awesome job keeping us in the game for a while. And then a lot of the guys on offense stepped up to make plays when they needed to."
It wasn't pretty, but Sunday night's game against the Jets was the type of game Las Vegas would have found a way to lose before their coaching change.
The Silver and Black will head out on the road to South Beach to take on the Miami Dolphins on Sunday, Nov. 19, at 1:00 p.m. EST/10:00 a.m. PST.
