In this story:

The Las Vegas Raiders’ offense looked the best it has all season in their victory over the New York Giants last week.

The running game was sharp, as Josh Jacobs had his best game of the season, and rookie quarterback Aidan O’Connell was accurate and efficient in his second NFL start.

Now, the Raiders will host the New York Jets at Allegiant Stadium on Sunday Night Football. The Jets boast one of the league’s best defensive units in the league this season, and that has kept them competitive in the AFC playoff race.

The Raiders’ newly-found offensive success will be put to the test against this talented Jets defense. So, what do the Raiders need to do in order to keep their momentum going and remain competitive in the playoff race themselves?

It starts by establishing the run. The running game continuing its play from last week will help their young quarterback settle in. Jacobs carried the ball 26 times for 98 yards and two touchdowns last week. O’Connell and the Raiders could definitely use that against a Jets team that, while their defense has been good, has not been able to stop the run very well this season.

An infusion of youth could also be beneficial for the Raiders’ offense. The Silver and Black continued to throw the ball deep to wide receiver Tre Tucker, who came down with an incredible diving catch for a 50-yard gain. Tucker continues to prove he needs to be on the field week after week, and should continue to do so tomorrow night.

More of tight end Michael Mayer also would also help the Raiders, as he had only two catches for 11 yards last week. After his five-catch, 75-yard performance against the New England Patriots, Mayer has only five catches for 43 yards since. Getting him more involved can certainly help O’Connell.

The Raiders’ offensive line is a little banged up, so whoever plays will need to hold up against the Jets’ talented defensive line. In order to make anything happen offensively, winning the trench battle comes first.

The Raiders have plenty of talent on offense. They will need to maximize it against a Jets defense that has not allowed teams to do that much this season. If the Raiders keep their momentum going offensively, they will find themselves in a better spot in the AFC.

The Silver and Black will remain at Allegiant Stadium in Las Vegas to take on the New York Jets on Sunday, Nov. 12, at 8:20 p.m. EST/5:20 p.m. PST.
