Raiders Doing Due Diligence on NFL Draft QBs

In this story:
Quarterback is the most important position in football and the Las Vegas Raiders know that.
That’s why they signed Jimmy Garoppolo to a three-year contract during the early days of free agency. Garoppolo is expected to be the Raiders’ starting quarterback for at least the 2023 season.
It’s also why the team has been doing extensive homework on the quarterbacks in the 2023 NFL Draft class. Four quarterbacks are expected to be selected in the top 10 of the draft, something that has not happened since the 2018 draft.
The top four quarterbacks in this year’s class are Alabama’s Bryce Young, Ohio State’s C.J. Stroud, Florida’s Anthony Richardson and Kentucky’s Will Levis. The Raiders have reportedly met with Young, Richardson, and Levis, and were in attendance for Stroud’s Pro Day.
Richardson had his Pro Day on Thursday, showing off his powerful arm and great mobility. The Raiders had dinner with Richardson on Wednesday, according to NFL Network’s Tom Pelissero.
Another quarterback the Raiders reportedly are interested in is Tennessee's Hendon Hooker. Hooker is not expected to be a first-round pick, but teams are intrigued by his production with the Volunteers last season before suffering a torn ACL.
Whether or not the Raiders select any of these quarterbacks, they do their due diligence and understand the positional value. The Raiders are also set up for quarterbacks to succeed, having multiple good pass catchers and a reliable running game within Josh McDaniels’ system.
The Raiders sit with the No. 7 overall pick, but there are multiple quarterback-needy teams in front of them. The draft is always unpredictable, and if the quarterback they like is available for them at No. 7, they may eventually find someone to be their long-term starter.
The 2023 NFL Draft will go from April 27-29 and be held at Union Station in Kansas City, Mo. The 2023 NFL Year and Free Agency period began at 4 p.m. EDT on March 15.
The Raiders are expected to be significant players in the free-agent market this offseason.
