Raiders NFL Draft Prospect: Garrett Williams, CB, Syracuse

In this story:
The Las Vegas Raiders are finalizing their draft board ahead of the 2023 NFL Draft, which is in less than a week.
One position the team knows they need to address is the secondary, namely the cornerbacks. The Raiders do not have many long-term answers at cornerback, with seven of them on expiring contracts.
One player who could be a long-term option for that position is Garrett Williams of Syracuse. Williams dealt with injuries in his career, but when he was healthy, he put out good tape.
Let’s look closer at Williams and see if he would fit in the Silver and Black.
In his three seasons with the Orange, Williams posted 152 total tackles, two tackles for losses, two sacks, 21 pass breakups, and four interceptions. He was named Honorable Mention All-ACC last season.
Williams is a technically sound cornerback who is also an excellent athlete. He stands at 5-11 and weighs 192 pounds, is great in the running game, and isn’t afraid to tackle. His coverage technique is some of the best in the entire draft.
Defensive Coordinator Patrick Graham likes smart defensive backs who don’t make mistakes, and Garrett Williams is one of those players.
According to Pro Football Focus, Williams didn’t commit a penalty in two seasons. He is expected to be a second or third-round pick, and it might be smart to take him at any of the Raiders’ picks in those rounds.
