Carmen Bricillio Talks Raiders Offensive Line

The Las Vegas Raiders overall had a proficient season on the offensive line in 2022. The group finished the season leading the way for All-Pro running back Josh Jacobs.

Jacobs finished the 2022-23 season as the NFL's rushing leader. He rushed for 1,653 yards and 12 touchdowns.

The question for the Raiders' offensive line this season is, can it also be a solid group in the pass protection game with the newly added quarterback Jimmy Garoppolo?

According to Statmouse.com, the Raiders finished as the 23rd overall offensive line, allowing 35 sacks last NFL season.

Raiders offensive line coach Carmen Bricillio got to share with the media how the offensive line is looking for this upcoming NFL season.

Bricillio has four years of coaching experience. Last season was his first season as the Raiders offensive line coach. He is entering his second season as a coach with the Raiders.

He talked about his coaching techniques, specifically coaching around an offensive line.

"My core philosophy is no matter what it is, a player has to know first and foremost, you care about them as an individual. If you're genuine about it, then I think there's a level of trust then that you can push them," Bricillio said.

Bricillio also shared what it takes to improve the Raiders' offensive line this upcoming 2022-23 NFL season.

"As soon as the season's over, coaches obviously catch their breath for a second, and then you're right back to it," Bricillio said. " ... You look at an individual basis and then a unit basis and say: 'Alright, what do we need to improve on?' There are plenty of things that we need to improve on. It doesn't matter where it is. As I said, one year from the next doesn't matter; you've got to put in the work each year to be able to have success."

The Raiders last season finished as the 19th overall best offensive line, according to Pro Football Focus. The website also highlights left tackle Kolton Miller as the best player for the Raiders' interior offensive line. He finished the season with an offensive line player grade of 81.4. The Raiders, as a group, finished with an offensive line grade of 56.7.

With the addition of a new quarterback under center for the Raiders offensive line, it will be fascinating to see how well they will perform this upcoming 2023-24 NFL season.
