Raiders Opponent Offensive Star: WR Jerry Jeudy

In this story:
The Las Vegas Raiders are set to take on the Denver Broncos as Week 1 of the NFL regular season has finally arrived.
One player that Defensive Coordinator Patrick Graham will have to game plan a little extra for is wide receiver Jerry Jeudy, who is coming off the best season of his career in 2022, catching 67 passes for 972 yards and six touchdowns, all career-highs.
Jeudy was arguably the best wide receiver in the 2020 NFL Draft class. While Minnesota Vikings star Justin Jefferson has taken that crown, Jeudy has begun to develop into an excellent receiver himself.
Jeudy was limited in practice yesterday because of a hamstring injury, and there are doubts about whether he can play Sunday, but don't count this star out. If he can get on the field, he is a star.
Jeudy struggled with drops in his first few seasons in the NFL, dropping 14 passes his rookie season, which was second-most in the NFL. He cut down on those numbers in 2021, but played only 10 games and did not catch a touchdown pass.
While his drops increased again in 2022, Jeudy had an excellent season, starting to look like the star he was expected to be coming out of Alabama. He had three 100-plus yard receiving games, the most in his career.
Jeudy has had his fair share of success against the Raiders in his career, catching 16 passes for 321 yards and four touchdowns in four games against the Silver and Black.
His most notable game against the Raiders was when he caught five passes for 140 yards and a touchdown at Empower Field at Mile High in Week 18 last season. Jeudy took a pass 92 yards for a touchdown in that game late in the fourth quarter when the game was tied. The Raiders would still go on to win the game.
Jeudy is 6-foot-1 and 193 pounds, but plays much bigger than his size. He possesses elite speed and thrives in short yardage situations due to his ability to gain yards after the catch. He is also an excellent route runner with the ability to separate from his defender with great footwork.
Raiders defensive backs will have to be mindful of Jeudy no matter where he lines up on the field, because he can beat them in so many ways.
Jeudy is looking to build off of his breakout 2022 season, and with an offensive-minded head coach in Sean Payton, he could be in for the best season of his career yet again.
The Silver and Black open the regular season at the Denver Broncos on Sunday, Sept. 10, at 4:25 p.m. EDT/1:25 p.m. PDT.
