The Las Vegas Raiders are hopping out of the frying pan and into the fire as they gear up for an opponent that always presents a challenge, the Los Angeles Chargers.

One of the main reasons Los Angeles has had one of the best offenses in the league in recent years is the play of fourth-year quarterback Justin Herbert.

Being division rivals, the Raiders are tasked with containing Herbert twice a year, but they never have much luck with it.

Unfortunately for the Raiders. he's only gaining experience with each passing year.

"He has access to the entire field," Raiders Defensive Coordinator Patrick Graham said when he addressed the media Tuesday. "True access to the entire field. He has a big arm, can throw it anywhere on the field from anywhere -- again, I'm not a quarterbacks coach, but I don't know how they describe the different ways they -- he can just get the ball [to] anywhere on the field.

"I think you're seeing his intelligence in terms of at the line of scrimmage with the tempo and the things they're doing there, he's getting more and more comfortable. Like again, that comes with experience. So, you're seeing a quarterback out there who's comfortable making decisions and they're giving him more responsibility. He can make all the throws, he can hurt you with his legs. He's a really dynamic player, and it's going to be fun to go against him."

Of the six games Herbert has played against the Raiders so far, he has thrown for fewer than 300 yards only once, and even then, he still threw three touchdown passes.

Herbert leads the league in completion percentage (74.4 percent) this season. He has passed for 939 yards and six touchdowns on 90 completions.

This will be only the third time Graham has to game plan for Herbert as defensive coordinator of the Raiders.

The Silver and Black return to the road this week in Inglewood, Calif., to play the Los Angeles Chargers (1-2) on Sunday, Oct. 1, at 4:05 p.m. EDT/1:05 p.m. PDT.
