Raiders' Rob Leonard Talks Raiders Defensive Line

In this story:
The Las Vegas Raiders have officially finished the team OTA's and Minicamp, and are counting the days before until on the pads in training camp before the 2023-24 NFL regular season begins.
Now that OTA's and minicamps are officially over, the media had the chance to talk to each of the Raiders' assistant coaches.
One of the Raiders' assistant coaches is entering his first season with the Silver and Black, and that assistant coach is Rob Leonard, defensive line coach.
Leonard spoke with the media about entering his first coaching season with the Silver and Black.
"I'd say honestly it starts with the organization, what we represent," Leonard said. "And then his commitment to excellence. It's fun to coach in a place where the standards are high and the players know what to expect every day."
Leonard is still getting to know the Raiders' defensive line and the entire group this offseason. He spent last season as an outside linebackers coach with the Baltimore Ravens.
Rob Leonard appreciates the veteran leadership Maxx Crosby and Chandler Jones bring to the Raiders' defensive line, which features a lot of rookies and undrafted free agents.
One thing that has impressed Rob Leonard on the Raiders' defensive line is fifth-year veteran Crosby.
Here are his first impressions of one of the best defensive ends in the National Football League.
"Relentless. Leadership. Who he is as a person," Leonard said. " ... It's a lot of fun to be around him. A contagious personality. Somebody you want to be around, not just as a football player, but as a person."
The two have also been forming strong bonds as a player to coach. Leonard and Crosby both show love to the late NBA star Kobe Bryant.
"We both like Kobe," the defensive line coach said. "I told him to pull up his favorite Kobe video and show it to the guys, and we just talked a lot about mindset, mentality."
Rob Leonard, this offseason, has been showing the defensive line Kobe Bryant highlight reels to display what it takes to have a "Mamba Mentality."
It will be unique to watch how the new defensive line coach Rob Leonard will develop the Raiders' defensive line this upcoming season and see if they will truly embark on the "Mamba Mentality" for the Raiders' defense.
