Raiders Senior Bowl Targets: Nathaniel "Tank" Dell

In this story:
The 2023 East-West Shrine Bowl concluded yesterday, but that wasn’t the last opportunity for the Las Vegas Raiders to get a look at 2023 NFL Draft prospects. The 2023 Senior Bowl is underway in Mobile, Alabama, and this is where the best of the best prospects will showcase their talent.
The Senior Bowl has long been a set of practices and a game that has helped many players boost their draft stock and be drafted into the right situations. The early practices usually consist of one-on-one drills for skill position players and linemen to go head-to-head and let the best man win. One of those players who won many of their matchups was Houston wide receiver Nathaniel “Tank” Dell.
While the Raiders are likely not prioritizing a pass catcher in this draft class, it would not hurt to add some depth to the receiver room, and Dell could be a good fit in Josh McDaniels’ offense. Let’s look at Dell’s time at the Senior Bowl so far and his career with the Cougars, and see if he would be a good fit in the Silver and Black.
Dell, a junior college product, spent one year at Independence Community College before transferring to Houston. He spent three years with the Cougars and posted excellent numbers in his career, catching 228 passes for 3,155 yards and 32 touchdowns. In his last two seasons, he posted over 1,300 yards each year.
As a receiver, Dell is always open. He is explosive off the line and should run a 4.4 at the NFL Combine. He is on the smaller side, standing at just 5-10 and only weighing 163 pounds. He can win at every level on the field and thrives in yards-after-catch situations. If he wants to stick at the NFL level, he will need to add some size to his frame.
Dell was a standout during the first couple of Senior Bowl practices. While the Raiders already have Davante Adams, Hunter Renfrow, and Darren Waller, Dell could slot in as the third receiver and fourth option for the Raiders’ new quarterback.
The NFL Scouting Combine is Feb. 28-March 6, 2023, at Lucas Oil Stadium in Indianapolis, Ind. March 7, 2023, before 4 p.m. EST, is the club's deadline to designate Franchise or Transition Players.
March 13-15 is the free agent negotiation period. During that time, starting at 12 p.m. EST on March 13 and ending at 3:59:59 p.m. EST on March 15, clubs are permitted to contact and enter into contract negotiations with the certified agents of players who will become Unrestricted Free Agents upon the expiration of their 2022 Player Contracts at 4 p.m EST on March 15.
The 2023 NFL Year and Free Agency period begins at 4 p.m. EST on March 15. The Raiders are expected to be significant players in the free-agent market this season.
