Crosby Reflects on Career Season in 2023

Las Vegas Raiders star defensive end Maxx Crosby wrapped up a strong 2022 season, but went into the offseason looking to improve.

In 2023, he did just that.

Crosby was named to his third consecutive Pro Bowl after posting better numbers than he did in 2022. He set career-highs in sacks with 14.5 and tackles for a loss with 23, leading the league for the second consecutive season.

Despite dealing with various injuries throughout the season, Crosby ended the season strong, carrying momentum into the offseason, and he will assuredly look to build off of this season into 2024.

Crosby reflected on his season and his plans to get better on the latest episode of his podcast, "The Rush with Maxx Crosby."

“It was what I needed to go into the offseason,” Crosby said. “It was just a great feeling. To hit personal records on every statistical category was huge, too. Last offseason, everyone was like: ‘There’s no way he could do better than he did the year before and then do it again,’ going into this season, I was like: ‘No, I know I can be better.’ I had 90 tackles, 23 TFLs, 14.5 sacks, putting up all career numbers; I think I had 94 pressures, which was, like, fourth in the league, so, like, being up there at the top of every single category, that’s what I push myself to be.

“It’s not just: ‘I’m going to be a dominant a– pass rusher,’ like, no. I’m going to be the best run defender, best pass rusher, all-around best tackler as a D-end. I want to be the best in every single aspect. That’s what I work for, and that’s why I work the way I do, and just to finish off that way and get a huge f—ing win, and seeing [Antonio Pierce], that s— was like a movie, seeing how the fans have been responding to AP and the whole team, we have a whole different attitude. It feels right, it looks right, it sounds right, it’s what the Raiders should be.”

Crosby also was named AP All-Pro Second-Team for the second time.
