Tim Brown on Potential Issue Raiders Should Avoid With Adams

The Las Vegas Raiders are in a position where they need to please their two best offensive threats this offseason, running back Josh Jacobs and wide receiver Davante Adams.

One solution that would seem to accomplish that all at once would be bringing in quarterback Aaron Rodgers.

Both players have expressed interest in having the star quarterback in Las Vegas.

Raiders Hall of Famer Tim Brown believes that anything less than an already established quarterback could potentially be a deal-breaker for Adams, who came in last offseason with much higher aspirations.

"I don't think that Davante came to be with a developing quarterback," Brown said when he joined the "Raiders Podcast Network" on radio row at Super Bowl LVII on Thursday. "I think, and of course what I think is not what I know, but I think there could be an issue with him if at this stage of his career, he's having to deal with a developing quarterback.

"So I think they're going to try and avoid that as much as they possibly can, and if they can't find somebody to get the guy they want, then maybe it's a situation they have to deal with. ... It's a very pretentious situation right now, I believe. That I think that everybody has to be very, very careful about the next moves they make because it could be a legacy move."

The 2023 NFL Draft will go from April 27-29 and be held at Union Station in Kansas City, Mo. The NFL Scouting Combine is Feb. 28-March 6, 2023, at Lucas Oil Stadium in Indianapolis, Ind. On March 7, 2023, before 4 p.m. EST is the club's deadline to designate Franchise or Transition Players.

March 13-15 is the free agent negotiation period. Starting at 12 p.m. EDT on March 13 and ending at 3:59:59 p.m. EDT on March 15, clubs are permitted to contact and enter into contract negotiations with the certified agents of players who will become Unrestricted Free Agents upon the expiration of their 2022 Player Contracts at 4 p.m. EDT on March 15.

The 2023 NFL Year and Free Agency period begins at 4 p.m. EDT on March 15. The Raiders are expected to be significant players in the free-agent market this season.
