Answering Your Las Vegas Raiders Questions and Email

LAS VEGAS, Nev.--The Las Vegas Raiders are only a few hours from taking on the New England Patriots at Allegiant Stadium, so we will answer some of the questions and e-mails from Raider Nation.'

Hondo, I saw Rich Bisaccia at the game, and everyone saw Maxx Crosby hugging him, but I was stunned by the number of players and team people. Is there a sense of buyer's remorse with Josh McDaniels and not keeping Rich? --Barbara W.

I sincerely think the people in the organization believe in Josh, but many wanted Rich Bisaccia to get the job, outside of Mark Davis and a few others.

Hondo, I don't care that we won. We should have won by 40. Raider Nation is weak and pathetic, and we now celebrate that we beat crap teams? We are pathetic. --Tyler C.

So, do you want the team to apologize for winning an NFL game? Are you serious? I've got nothing for you. Would you have rather lost while playing great? How do you play great and lose?

Hondo, I was glad to hear you report about the lack of longball hurting the Las Vegas Raiders. How big is it? --Mike R.

Hondo, I laughed at you about a month ago when you said that you were hearing from several NFL executives that Drake Maye was ahead of Caleb Williams for the NFL Draft. Then I saw this. Great work. --Cliff G.

Drake Maye is reportedly “graded higher” than Caleb Williams on several NFL scouting director’s draft boards as of right now.

Some NFL scouts reportedly believe Maye vs Williams is going to be a “debate” right until draft night.

Mr. Carpenter, My name is (name withheld by Hondo), and I am 12 years old. My dad is not alive anymore, but he loved the Raiders, so I do. I follow them because he did, making me feel close to him, and my mom and two sisters like them, but not as much as me. I get to watch you because you don't use foul language, and my mom says you are OK for me to listen to. I just wanted to say thank you for not using foul language so that kids can watch. Someday, I want to meet you. --Thank you. Go Raiders.

Hey Buddy, first of all, thank you for listening. While I am an adult and you are a child, I lost my dad almost 10 years ago, and it still hurts daily. When my dad was your age, he lost his dad. My dad purposed in his heart to be a great dad for his kids, and he was. You are a tough young man, and I know you will love your mom and sisters and be a terrific dad like yours was. Don't ever feel bad for missing your dad. I am 52, and I miss mine.

Secondly, thank you for emailing me back, and I talked to your mom, and I have a surprise. I have four tickets for you for an upcoming game, a hotel, and spending money for you all. Thank you for listening and reading, and I look forward to meeting you when you are in Las Vegas as a guest of my family.

Hey Hondo, you mentioned the mood of the locker room and players talking about Josh. I don't care; players say what they know they have to. This team hates Josh, and you can see it. --Sean L.

I agree when the cameras are on, the players are guarded. However, you get facts when they talk to you off the record or anonymously. If you think the players hate Josh, you are entitled to that opinion, but I offer you this.

At the end of last season, I reported how players had privately talked to me about Josh and how they hadn't quit on Josh. I've gotten many similar emails to yours, and one player said: "I read that. Do they think we are liars?" You can have any opinion you want, but you call some of the players you love liars.

Hondo, I was one of those people calling the game over in the first quarter. I've got to learn from you and take in the entire 60 minutes, but geez, Hondo, this team is making me an alcoholic. --Patrick H.

I have heard many people say that, but hold on, Patrick, that is why you play the entire game. Stay sober, my friend, and I hope you enjoy the next game.

Hi Hondo, I love your work. I was never a big fan of Amik Robertson until your podcast earlier this year when you talked about how the coaches and the team love him. I bought his jersey after that, and when he made that interception last week, I looked like a genius wearing that jersey. I wanted to say thank you. --Allen J.

Based on all the evidence, is it safe to call the move to Las Vegas a failure? Or is it fair to feel everything has been detrimental to the team for the near future, if not long-term? --Sincerely, Tony B.

If Raider Nation wanted to keep the Raiders in Oakland, why vote for people who didn't want them there, by not making it happen? Secondly, it isn't like Oakland was sold out every game. I loved Oakland and the ambiance of the stadium; it was unique, but the reality is the move was best for the team's long-term viability, but now the team on the field needs to demonstrate that.

Hondo, why does a team give up a home-field advantage by moving to Lost Wages? --Raider Regards, David L.

Because they didn't sell out where they were, the stadium was terrible, and to compete, they had to get a stadium that was a significant revenue generator. Now that the team has moved, fans should expect much more because they have the money to do what they want.

Hi Hondo, The negativity you receive from some of the Raider Nation is sickening, and I hope it doesn't weigh on you ( I suspect it does not ). You mentioned a while back that other NFL teams might weaponize the negativity of Raiders Fans -- to help lure Free Agents away from Las Vegas. I was just wondering if you could expand on that at all. --Clayton U.

It doesn't bother me unless they cross a line that could be considered a threat to my family. I am free game, so that I can take it. At least 99 percent of Raider Nation is fantastic, and I won't let the other one percent paint the others.

As far as a team using Raider Nation against the team, I know of one free agent, that I know, when he was strongly considering (he thought he was going to join the Silver and Black), an opposing team showed him and his agent how Raider Nation eviscerated many of their players. All fan bases have an element of that, but at times, Raider Nation (the vocal minority) seems to feed on toxicity, which has cost the team some players.

Hondo, I about spit my coffee on my computer screen when I saw the Tweet about your wife and Christmas pajamas. Please toe the line. For those of us men who live vicariously through you, who admire your work, your hot wife, and kids, please don't succumb. I did it, brother, and each year, we do it again, and a part of my soul dies. --Tom S.
