Answering Your Las Vegas Raiders Questions, Emails...

In this story:
INDIANAPOLIS, Ind.--The Las Vegas Raiders are (7-8) preparing to take on the Indianapolis Colts (8-7) on the road Sunday at Lucas Oil Stadium in Indianapolis.
We will answer some of the questions and emails from Raider Nation as we look ahead to this monster game.
Hondo, I think AP should be our Head coach, but Bo Hardegree is not the offensive coordinator we need. I really think all we need is a quality OC. Because I value your opinion, who are some good OCs, you think we can get next season? --Jaime V.
I would say to you respectfully that any time you hire a coach, he has to have the latitude to hire who he wants. If you believe in AP, you must let him select his staff.
Hondo, Marcus Peters being dropped and Jack Jones picked up was brilliant. I had never heard anyone explain that like you did, thank you. I am all in on AP and Champ getting the jobs. --C. Rodder
Getting rid of Peters was bold, but so was adding Jones. I am glad you appreciated the explanation of why it showed much insight into Champ Kelly and Antonio Pierce.
Hondo, I don't have a question, just a comment. Keep up the good work. You are appreciated by the vast majority of Raider fans who know about your podcast and read your articles. --Shawn P.
Thank you.
Hondo, what would you think of trading Davante Adams for a draft pick? --Ken D.
While I respect the question, you must have more background information. For example, if you just ate dinner and are full, and someone says you want to go out and eat, the answer is no. But if you are hungry, the answer is yes. Let me explain on Davante.
If the Raiders decide to retain AP and Champ, and the team stays in a win-now mode, you want to keep him. He is the best in the NFL. I know he wants to stay here as well.
However, if the Raiders decide to go into rebuild mode and hire someone else, you automatically look at a three-year window. While clearly in his prime and not diminishing in talent, where will he be in three years?
Additionally, if someone comes to the Raiders after the season with a stupid offer, you must listen, but many variables must be addressed first.
Hondo, Antonio Pierce is the man. I agree with Rick Gosselin, and if he is the guy, you hire him now. I agree with Rick that the NFL doesn't come after the Raiders for it. My question is simple. Whether Mark Davis hires him or not, when do you think a decision will be announced on the next coach? --Peter B.
I would believe as early as possible, but no later than February 2, 2024.
Hondo, I loved your interview with Champ Kelly and your article about him with Mike Furrey. Great stuff. What do you think is his greatest quality? --Monica V.
Great question, and that would be his ability to assimilate and process information. It is one thing to get information and it is another to know what to do with it once you get it. He does a fantastic job of putting quality people in the right spots, then taking all the information and processing it. That is one of many terrific skills that he has.
Hondo, with Zamir White really coming into his own, does that make Josh Jacobs expendable? --Carol S.
I don't think so. The salary demands and the next Coach/GM will determine that. He is a talented back and a fabulous presence in the locker room. I believe there is a deal there, but it depends on who leads the team in 2024.
Dear Hondo, I love your coverage of Maxx Crosby. I have heard you say many times that he is untouchable. Can you explain that? I love the guy but don't understand how anyone is untouchable. --Thank you, Tony A.
Sure, I can. Let's go back and revisit my comments about Davante.
Maxx Crosby plays the second most important position in football and the most important on defense. He isn't even in his prime yet. Maxx has a monster ceiling. If the team rebuilds, he will be just hitting his prime in three years (hard to imagine when he is already one of the top five players in the NFL).
Why trade the best or second best at a crucial spot when all you will do is look for another?
Additionally, he is the heart and soul of your team, a perfect presence in the locker room, a consummate professional, and the guy you want as the face of your franchise. Mark Davis owns the team, but make no mistake, this team is Maxx Crosby's.
Hondo, I was not a Kolton Miller fan when you started covering this team. Thanks to you, I now love the guy. Why do you think he doesn't get more respect from people like I was? --Emma H.
First, thank you for listening, watching, and reading. If he played on a better team, more people would. As the Raiders improve, his recognition will grow. In addition, Kolton is a wonderful person and doesn't have a self-serving bone in his body. He is a quiet star. Trust me, as the team improves, his notoriety will increase.
Hondo, I have always loved reading and watching your work. The way you present things really makes me think. I am curious: what are your long-term thoughts on Aidan O'Connell? --Jack P.
He has shown us a lot to be encouraged about his future. He has, like all rookies, offered us some weak points. If I were the Raiders, I would pick a quarterback in the next draft, one with some mobility, and make Aidan my QB1 heading into OTAs and mini-camp.
I would clarify to all parties that while AO4 is the QB1 because of experience, it is an entirely wide-open job. That wouldn't bother Aidan one bit, and competition makes everyone better.
Now, from our weekly Hondo hate file:
Hondo, filthy, rotten, horrible liberal media bias is all you spew. Why would you hire Antonio Pierce until after the season other than simply to make your ego feel good for promoting a minority? What a joke. --Kip W.
I usually don't respond to Hondo hate, Kip, but this is important. Does this mean I am not getting a Christmas card next year?
