Derek Carr with Honest Recap of Last Raiders Season

Las Vegas Raiders former quarterback Derek Carr had a stunning admission following a New Orleans Saints offseason practice, and we discuss it in our latest podcast.

HENDERSON, Nev.--It is no secret that the relationship between Derek Carr and the Las Vegas Raiders didn't end as anyone had wished it had.

After that, there are two camps of people whose opinions are as vast and divergent as possible. But the fact remains the relationship between the two parties happened.

I wrote soon after it happened, an in-depth piece taking you inside last season and how, and at times why it happened.

Last week after an offseason practice, Derek Carr, now in New Orleans as the quarterback of the Saints, spoke and had some fascinating comments, if being honest, really lovely comments recapping his final season in the Silver and Black.

“They just didn’t get my best and that drove me crazy at the end of the year because I felt so spread out in so many different ways,” Carr told the Associated Press after an offseason workout recently.  "I just didn’t feel like myself and I feel bad for the [Raiders] coaches and players.”

Last season wasn't a good year for many people wearing the Silver and Black, whether paid or fan.

Carr's statement was not stunning because I feel, or because anyone feels he is dishonest.  On the contrary, it is because Carr was his usual honest self in a delusional world run more by polls and publicists.

If you choose not to like Derek Carr, that is your business, and I would never try to tell anyone how to feel.

But, if you don't like him for anything other than his play on the field, I can assure you that you don't know him.

I consider Carr, a friend. Did we always agree? Probably not, but one thing I can tell you about the New Orleans Saints quarterback is that he is genuine and sincere.

While some in Raider Nation will use his comments and try to attack him, to me, it was Carr being Carr.

He didn't speak disparagingly about anyone, and he could have.  He owned his faults from last season, didn't perform well, and showed humility and kindness toward his teammates and an owner and franchise that made him wealthy beyond his wildest dreams.

Carr's comments closed a chapter and did not open an old wound.  People who wanted to be offended will be, and others will wish him well and return to their passion for Raider Nation.
