Report: Raiders Top Spot for Intriguing Free Agent

LAS VEGAS, Nev.--A recent report has the Las Vegas Raiders as a top landing spot for an intriguing defensive tackle who could make Defensive Coodinator Patrick Graham and his merry band of misfits even better in 2024.
According to ESPN's Matt Bowen, interior defensive lineman DJ Reader of the Cincinnati Bengals could be a top destination for the Raiders.
Reader was hurt in 2023, suffering from a quad injury, and he flew under the radar.
The Raiders are set at defensive end, where superstar Maxx Crosby and emerging star Malcolm Koonce were one of the top defensive end combinations for the last nine games last season.
At the same time, Interim Coach Antonio Pierce led the Silver and Black to a 5-4 record.
Tyree Wilson flashed in a big way once he moved inside, and the Raiders had tremendous production from defensive tackles already in the desert.
Will new General Manager Tom Telesco focus his target on keeping the players who Pierce has already led, or is investing in a better option?
Per Bowen, "Reader wins with leverage, power, and pad level at the point of attack, and he can get up on the toes of opposing quarterbacks as an interior pass-rusher (15 pressures in 2023). In Vegas, he would provide a critical upgrade on the interior of the defensive line, with Maxx Crosby and Malcolm Koonce making plays on the edges."
The NFL Draft will be held in Detroit, Mich., on April 25-27, 2024. The Las Vegas Raiders currently hold the No. 13 overall pick.
