NFL Network Confirms Our Previous Reporting on Jacobs

HENDERSON, Nev.--Several weeks ago, we began reporting that Las Vegas Raiders General Manager Dave Ziegler intended to attempt to sign Josh Jacobs to a multi-year deal. At the same time we made it clear that if a deal wasn't going to happen, the Silver and Black would use the franchise tag.

Now other media are echoing our report from weeks ago.

Jacobs had an amazing season, leading the NFL with 1,653 rushing yards. In addition, Jacobs also led the NFL with 2,053 all-purpose yards, thanks to a Josh McDaniels system that uses the highly-talented running back in multiple ways.

The NFL Network sent out a report on social media echoing our reporting of the Jacobs situation from weeks ago. Other outlets then picked it up.

NFL Network said via social media: "The #Raiders plan to place the franchise tag on star RB Josh Jacobs if the sides don’t reach a deal by Tuesday’s deadline, per sources.

It added" "The NFL’s leading rusher last season, Jacobs is viewed as a part of the future in Las Vegas."

The 2023 NFL Draft will go from April 27-29 and be held at Union Station in Kansas City, Mo. On March 7, 2023, before 4 p.m. EST, is the club's deadline to designate Franchise or Transition Players.

March 13-15 is the free agent negotiation period. Starting at 12 p.m. EDT on March 13 and ending at 3:59:59 p.m. EDT on March 15, clubs are permitted to contact and enter into contract negotiations with the certified agents of players who will become Unrestricted Free Agents upon the expiration of their 2022 Player Contracts at 4 p.m. EDT on March 15.

The 2023 NFL Year and Free Agency period begins at 4 p.m. EDT on March 15. The Raiders are expected to be significant players in the free-agent market this season.
