Answering Your Las Vegas Raiders Questions, Emails

In this story:
HENDERSON, Nev.--The Las Vegas Raiders fan base is ravenous for information, and each week we endeavor to feed that voracious appetite with our weekly question-and-answer article: So without any further adieu, here we go:
Hey Hondo, me again. A third-round pick for Waller? I thought Ziegler was good at his job. This is embarrassing. Please feel free to tell me I'm wrong. --Jeff Mclane
OK, I will. You're mistaken. The Raiders were offered a second-round pick before the season by the Green Bay Packers, that is factual, but he also, yet again, had an injury-plagued season, and a third, is considered by many an excellent deal for the Raiders.
Just spoke with two NFL Execs about my previous report that the Raiders were getting calls on Renfrow & listening. They said, "Not hearing anything imminent, but I would be shocked if he's a Raider when the season starts. A lot of smoke." We shall see, I will remain on it

Hondo, you Tweeted that there is interest in Hunter Renfrow and that the Raiders aren't shopping him. I get that. But you also said you thought he would be gone by the start of the season. Can you give any more details? --M. Graham
Let's be super clear. I said people around the league are saying that. I do not believe the Raiders want to get rid of him. In addition, I was quoting an NFL source who thought he would be traded. That is my job to get information and distribute it. That was an executive's opinion, not mine. Unless someone makes a superb offer (In that case, everyone is up for trade), I would expect Hunter Renfrow back.
Need to make something CLEAR. If people are interested in Hunter Renfrow, it doesn't mean Raiders have any desire to move him. They AREN'T shopping him. Renfrow is a valuable asset.

Hey Hondo. I read about five different Raider info websites daily, and I have to say, your articles are the most informative. So I have to say, good job on that. With Jimmy G as our QB, I like the idea of trading down and picking up more picks. How far down do you think we can go and still get Hendon Hooker? He would've been a top 3 QB if he hadn't gotten hurt. --Jaime V.
I believe he would have also been a very high pick were it not for injury. I think if Hendon Hooker is the man, you can get him at the bottom of the first round or the very top of the second.
Hey Hondo, Like usual, you're knocking the offseason out of the park with your coverage, so thank you for your work. My question is, with the recent move by Carolina and the chance Arizona follows suit resulting in QB 1-4, there is a chance Jalen Carter is available at 7. I know the Raiders like Kancey, (and so do I), but do they pass on Jalen Carter in this scenario or would they add a day 2 pick, move back, and try for a chance at Kancey later on in the 1st? Thanks in advance! --Michael F.
Great question. There are mixed opinions on Jalen Carter's off-the-field woes, but there are no mixed emotions about his Pro Day. It was terrible, and his stock was falling with the off-field, but it is failing now. He was considered the best prospect in the NFL Draft.
The Raiders could trade back and grab Kancey, who has no off-field issues and killed the NFL Combine when the lights were on.
Hey, Hondo-You're my go-to for Raiders insight, keep killing it. I see many people still insisting that Mark Davis is cash poor, and one of the reasons we wouldn't make a run at, say, Lamar Jackson is because Mark can't afford to put that much cash in escrow. Is that the case? Do you feel Mark / the organization still has cash flow problems, or is that all speculation? --Thanks, Hondo, Sam M
According to everyone I know around the NFL, this franchise and inside the building laugh at that, and I can tell you with 100 percent certainty that they do not. People also say that the earth is flat and that Elvis Presley is alive.
You are a great resource for Raider news; keep up the good work. My question is, next year's QB draft class appears to be loaded. Do you see the Raiders not drafting a QB this year? --Barry C
Dave Ziegler has already said he doesn't see a scenario in which they don't draft a QB this year. That said, next year's QB class looks fantastic and has at least one and possibly three franchise-changing QBs.
I am sorry, everyone, but I didn't get any Hondo hate this week for the article.
