Insider Podcast: What to Expect with Raiders vs. Rams

In this story:
SIMI VALLEY, Cal.--The Las Vegas Raiders are set to take on the Los Angeles Rams at SoFi Stadium on Saturday after two joint practices this week.
It was a terrific week for both franchises, as the practices were challenging, clean and competitive.
In the latest episode of our Las Vegas Raiders Insider Podcast, we discuss our final thoughts on the joint practices and look ahead to what you should be looking for in the game.

One good thing that Raider Nation saw this week was rookie defensive end Tyree Wilson making his first appearance on the field for the Silver and Black. Coach Josh McDaniels discussed what he thought of his first look.
"It's different when you’re carrying pads in heat and a little humidity. It's just different than being in shorts and a t-shirt and doing some workouts on your own," McDaniels said. "So, being able to lean on some bigger bodies and to pass rush and some of those things, you've got to get used to it. All of us had to go through the acclamation phase. His is obviously going to be a little bit more tempo here as we go. Just so we can make sure that we keep taking steps in the right direction. But he came out and did what we wanted him to do yesterday, and then we'll go ahead and do the same thing today."
Additionally, Los Angeles Rams Coach Sean McVay is a great friend to Josh McDaniels. With the teams not playing in the regular season this year, these two friends can honestly evaluate each other on their thoughts on the opponent. It is invaluable information, and I asked McDaniels what that means to him.
"I think it's important to have a few of those across the league," McDaniels said. "We've done that from afar before and that was a little harder because he was on West Coast time and I was on East Coast time, but now we're both in the same time zone. So, it makes it a little bit easier to communicate if you will. And I think just: 'Give me your opinion on some of the things we're doing.' I'm interested to hear maybe some of his thoughts at the end of this week.
"We don't play one another this year during the regular season. So, it's helpful to have somebody else who's really, really good in their field, be able to put eyes on your team, and then give you some positive critical feedback of something that maybe will help you. So, I trust his opinion, his judgment. He has been a great friend to me for a long time and I look forward to that."
The Silver and Black return to preseason action when they play the Los Angeles Rams at SoFi Stadium on Saturday, Aug. 19, at 9 p.m. EDT/6 p.m. PDT.
