HENDERSON, Nev.--The Las Vegas Raiders are in their fifth week of training camp, and with one preseason game left this weekend, the intensity is ramping up.

Running back Zamire White spoke after practice: We have it all for you. You can watch the entire press conference and read the transcript below:

 Running Back Zamir White

Q: There's a possibility, depending on how things work out, that you might be the guy in that season opener. Do you feel like you're ready to step up to that role?

White: "My main mindset is just to work and grind every single day, and just show up for my teammates every day, that's about it."

Q: How did you think the first string went? Were there things you wanted to work on in this last game that you got better at? What were your takeaways on how you played the last two games?

White: "It was alright. There's always room for me to get better, for me and us to get better. So, we've just got to go watch film and go to practice and go to work."

Q: Having those extra snaps at practice, how much has that been able to help you and the rest of the room to be able to get more physical?

White: "A lot. Like you said, just having the extra reps and doing it repeatedly, it makes the game slow down for you and that's about it."

Q: How have you felt improvement as well with pass catching with that side of the game for you being out on the field with that?

White: "We catch every day before practice and after practice. That's the main goal of mine, working on that."

Q: Did it feel good confidence-wise just to make that catch the other day?

White: "Oh yeah, for sure. Yeah, for sure. Because on the call, I was like: 'Oh yeah, finally they're about to throw me a ball,' so I was like: 'Cool, let me get this one.' It was cool."

Q: Coach McDaniels mentioned blocking as a big part of what you have to do as a running back. So how far do you feel like you've come in that area?

White: "I would say I'm getting better at it every day because we do the one on ones every day, so we work at it every single day. We work on it."

Q: What has been the biggest transition from last year's preseason to this this year, like the confidence? How are the different emotions?

White: "The difference is probably the reps, the more reps I take. I take a lot of reps, and I've just been more locked in. I've got to have it right, so just reps probably, just going through that process over and over and finding the key points in the fronts and the blitzes and just knowing all that stuff."

Q: You've talked about preparing the same way no matter what the role is, but is there a way to prepare for taking 25 hits, or in your case delivering 25 hits in a game?

White: "Honestly, shoot man, just grind it out man, that's about it. This is ball -- yeah there's a pretty side, but there's an ugly side. Yeah man, just put your head down and keep working."

Q: Running backs talk about getting into a rhythm and sometimes you need six, seven carries to get into that rhythm. Going back to when you were in college, what was that sweet spot for you when you felt like: 'OK, the legs feel good, rhythm feels good, vision feels good?'

White: "The linemen blocking, for one. The linemen come first because their job is harder than mine. So just being fluent with my runs and being patient, and reading gaps from linebacker's back and stuff like that."

Q: Last year when there were a lot of moving pieces with that offensive line. Now having consistency and having the same guys in front of you, how much does that help you in the rest of the guys in the room?

White: "A whole lot, because those guys work hard every single day."

Q: You've had a couple good games in the preseason. It's seeming like after every game you're saying: 'I could do better,' or: 'That wasn't alright.' Is that just your mentality and where did that come from? Has that helped you get to this point?

White: "Definitely, that came from my high school coach and my middle school coach. There's always room to go farther and farther. Like it's not here, just keep on going."

Q: Was there a time or when was the last time after a game when you felt like: 'Alright, I had a good night tonight?'

White: "Never. Never. My uncle Ant, he's my main critic. In high school, I had like 300 or something yards, but he was like: 'Yeah, yeah, yeah, this and that.' And I'm like: 'Alright Unc, OK, I got you.'"

Q: Does he have NFL Network and can watch your games now?

White: "All of them, yes."

Q: Are you still getting calls from him?

White: "The same way, never too good."

Q: Do you hope to change that on opening night?

White: "I hope so."

Q: Have you talked much with Josh Jacobs?

White: "He texted me yesterday just checking on me, but that's about it."

Q: How big is that for you to have that support from somebody that was with you in that room last year?

White: "That's huge, man because last year Josh [Jacobs] was helping me out with plays and all that type of stuff. So, we were really close last year just hanging out here, at home, so it's huge."

The Silver and Black open the regular season at the Denver Broncos on Sunday, September 10, at 4:25 p.m. EDT/1:25 p.m. PDT.
