Raiders DE Malcolm Koonce From Training Camp

NFL Training Camp for the Las Vegas Raiders is progressing, and today defensive end Malcolm Koonce spoke, and we have his entire comments.

HENDERSON, Nev.--The Las Vegas Raiders have opened their 2023 NFL Training Camp, and defensive end Malcolm Koonce took to the podium to address the media.

 Defensive End Malcolm Koonce 

Q: Last year, it seemed like there was a lot of learning going on. But this year seems like guys are having fun, they're enjoying camp maybe because you have a year of the system behind you. Do you see that? 

Koonce: "Oh yeah, definitely. I definitely feel like we're way more comfortable and I feel like we know what we're doing, stuff like that." 

Q: What was sort of the focus for yourself this offseason? 

Koonce: "Just trying to be better than I was last year, that's it. I'm just competing with myself, that's it." 

Q: What are some things in particular that you thought from last year that you needed to improve on? 

Koonce: "Just all around, just all around trying to be a better player in every sense. Even the things I was good at, trying to get better at that. Even the things I was bad at." 

Q: Do you feel better, or more comfortable, with where you are than you were last year at this time? 

Koonce: "Yeah, definitely. I think definitely last year -- brand new system after going from a different system my rookie year, so it's my second year in the same system. So, I definitely feel way more comfortable than I was.” 

Q: What do you think the key is to this defense having success? 

Koonce: "Just playing our game, that's it."

The Silver and Black open the preseason by hosting the San Francisco 49ers on Sunday, Aug. 13, at 4 p.m. EDT/1 p.m. PDT.
