Raiders S Trevon Moehrig From Training Camp

The 2023 NFL Training Camp for the Las Vegas Raiders is underway, and today safety Trevon Moehrig spoke, and we have his entire comments for you.

HENDERSON, Nev.--The Las Vegas Raiders have opened their 2023 NFL Training Camp, and safety Trevon Moehrig took to the podium to address the media.

Q: Just in general, how did the first couple of days of camp go? 

Moehrig: "Good, man. Good energy. Just getting back out there, starting to play football, flying around. It's just been fun. This is what we do. This is how we make a living. So, coming out here is always a good time.” 

Q: How much of a difference have you seen maybe in the understanding of the defense everyone had last year at this time compared to this year? 

Moehrig: "Man, I’d just say the energy. We’re just coming out, all of us are focused and wanting to accomplish one thing. And yeah, I mean, that's all I can really say. We're just coming out with a whole new energy. 

Q: How much easier is it this year now that you understand the scheme, you know what they want, you get the verbiage? Whereas last year it was just learning? 

Moehrig: “I'm still learning. I don't think I ever got it. Everybody's still learning. I'm not going to speak too much on last year. I'm still always trying to improve and learn.” 

Q: What's it like this year having the addition of Marcus Epps in the room? 

Moehrig: “Man, he's awesome. That's my dawg, ever since we came in the first day we've been talking, just picking his brain about what he knows, and he's been picking my brain just trying to help each other out. But outside of football, he's just a good person and just fun to be around.” 

Q: What’s the process like kind of developing chemistry with him on the field and getting to know each other? 

Moehrig: “I mean, the chemistry for us is just making sure we're on the same page, the communication, making sure everybody on the defense is on one accord. And if we can do that, then we'll have a good chance at that play specifically.” 

Q: Can you talk about the speed that Jakorian Bennett brings to that defense? 

Moehrig: “Yeah, he's fast, like you said. A young guy, he's fast. But that's really all I can say right now. Like I said, he brings good energy as well. He's hungry, eager to learn and fun to be around as well. He's always wanting to be around the football and always wanting to learn.” 

Q: The other day, Maxx Crosby was kind of talking about the non-negotiables that he has seen in the defensive line room and among the defense. For you and the secondary, what are some non-negotiables that you believe that your secondary has? 

Moehrig: “Man, I think we just need to come out there every day and approach it just with communication, fundamentals. And if we can do that, then like I said before, we'll have a good starting spot before the play starts.” 

Q: Are you learning how to manage an offseason? Do you kind of understand what you need to do in the offseason to be ready for training camp? 

Moehrig: “Yeah, I mean it's just studying, film watching and then just staying active, working out and making sure you're doing all your stuff; DB drills, just the usual kind of stuff. Just studying like any other profession.”
