HENDERSON, Nev.--In this episode of the Las Vegas Raiders Insider Podcast, we discuss the Silver and Black rookie quarterback Aidan O'Connell, the franchise's progress, and pressure.

You can watch the entire podcast below:

Aidan O'Connell has been the best rookie quarterbacking in the National Football League this preseason, and it hasn't been close.

Coach Josh McDaniels said of his play: “Well, he played the whole game basically last week. So, next week is next week. We'll figure out exactly what we need to do based on some of the competition that we're looking at and some of the things we really want to see prior to the regular season beginning. But you know, we've got three practices this week, we've got a preseason game, got three practices the following week, so kind of looking at it in totality. There are a lot of decisions and conversations to be had internally about what we're going do and how we're going to use this final preseason game coming up in Dallas.”

As the Raiders entered the last week of training camp, I asked  McDaniels about this week's process. Does he focus more on the players on the bubble of making the 53-man roster, or is he focused on the team?

He answered me: "I think it's kind of multifaceted Hondo. We obviously need to take stock of, 'What do we need to do better?' We did that from San Francisco to L.A. We'll do that again today and tomorrow as a coaching staff, and just go back over and review the entire week. We had two great practice days with L.A. and then a preseason game full of, I would say, situations and things that we can all learn from. So, we'll try to identify what that bucket of things are in each phase and go work on that this week, as well as continue to focus on some of the competitive situations on our roster and also the evolution of some things that we haven't quite got to yet. Like I said, we've only had 15 practice days. So, there definitely are some things that are still outstanding that we haven't necessarily introduced to our football team in all three phases, and we'll continue to sprinkle that in, along with focusing on the areas that we can improve in and developing our young players and seeing how some of the competition kind of shakes out here as we head into the Dallas week."

The Silver and Black return to preseason action when they play the Dallas Cowboys at AT&T Stadium on Saturday, Aug. 26, at 8 p.m. EDT/5 p.m. PDT.
