NFL BREAKING: Leonard Floyd Leaves Rams, Signs with Bills

The Rams had a payroll decision and made it. But now the Bills pick up the scraps and maybe get a steal in Leonard Floyd.

A big part of the goodbye to Leonard Floyd? The Los Angeles Rams decided they couldn't afford him. But maybe also in play? Floyd, with a Super Bowl title to his credit, wants another one ... and that might be easier to obtain now that he's heading east.

The Buffalo Bills have agreed to add Floyd to their roster under the terms of a contract that according to NFL Network is just a one-year deal ... and we assume an affordable one, as the Bills have tried to be conservative with the cap this year after last offseason's big spend on another Rams ex, Von Miller.

Does this count as a "splash move'' in free agency quite like that one? Maybe not. But the parallels do exist. The former Los Angees standout pass-rusher Floyd is following Miller's path in the sense that he comes over from the Rams ... ... in the sense that he is a recognized sack artist. ... and in the sense that he has every right to "chase a ring'' - especially as a result of the Rams recently cutting him for salary cap reasons.

Miller of course received a monster deal to make the move a year ago and is now rehabbing with hopes of appearing for the 2023 Bills in Week 6. Maybe as a Bills insurance policy there along comes Floyd, 30, who has gone back-to-back-to-back with successful seasons in terms of getting to the quarterback, as the former Chicago Bears first-round pick was good for 10.5, 9.5 and the aforementioned nine sacks in the last three years ... and of course, a Super Bowl win in L.A.

The Rams had a payroll decision and made it; Floyd signed a four-year, $64 million contract with the Rams in 2021 with an average annual salary of $16 million. ... and was released. And now the Bills pick up the scraps and maybe get a steal in Leonard Floyd.
