Could Rams Target Dolphins Free Agent Andrew Van Ginkel?

The Los Angeles Rams could use some help pressuring the quarterback, and they could get that help in free agency.

The Los Angeles Rams were in the bottom ten in the NFL in sacks last season, and they could look for some edge-rushing help in free agency.

One free agent who could fly under the radar of most teams is Miami Dolphins linebacker Andrew Van Ginkel.

There are other options that most would consider better, such as Brian Burns or Josh Allen, but the price for that caliber of player might be a bit high.

The past few times that the Rams have shown interest in an edge rusher in free agency was for players like Von Miller and Leonard Floyd.

Whenever the Rams went after them, Miller was an aging player who just wanted off of his current team, and Floyd was considered by many to be a draft bust after being selected with the ninth overall pick in the 2016 NFL Draft.

All of that is to say that the Rams have gone after under-the-radar free agents in the past, and Van Ginkel absolutely fits the criteria. He had a solid year for the Dolphins, and he finished with a solid six sacks for someone who only started in 11 games.

Both Floyd and Miller made an immediate impact on the team as soon as they were acquired, and someone like Van Ginkel could do the same thing in a year when the Rams are looking like contenders.

If the Rams were to sign an athlete like Van Ginkel to come off the edge and rush the quarterback, it could take some of the pressure off of Aaron Donald and Kobe Turner, and help them shine even more.
