Todd McShay Mock Draft: Rams Select Georgia CB Kelee Ringo

The Los Angeles Rams select the fifth defensive back in their last eight draft picks in a two-round mock from ESPN's Todd McShay.

The Los Angeles Rams won't be making a selection in the first round of this year's draft. That's the price you pay for selling your soul (and draft picks) to win a Super Bowl.

Luckily, ESPN's Todd McShay released a two-round mock draft on Tuesday, giving LA fans a look at the possible selection the Rams could make once they're on the board for the first time at No. 36.

And it's hard to imagine they'll be disappointed with the selection.

McShay has the Rams selecting Georgia Bulldogs cornerback Kelee Ringo at the top of the second round. Should this selection come true, it would mark the the fifth defensive back the Rams have taken in their last eight draft picks dating back to last year.

Here's what McShay had to say about the pick:

The Rams are on the board here for the first time, and after they dealt away Jalen Ramsey, there's a gaping hole at cornerback. Ringo has speed for days, but he still has to work on his recognition skills in coverage. He picked off four passes and broke up 18 over two seasons at Georgia.

Based on his collegiate production and combine performance, Ringo could certainly step in and make an impact as a rookie before eventually developing as LA's replacement for Jalen Ramsey in future seasons.

Ringo was arguably the best player in the secondary on the best defense and team in college football this past season.

He finished another championship-winning season at Georgia with 42 total tackles, seven passes defended, one forced fumble and two interceptions. And last season, one of his two interceptions resulted in a game-clinching 79-yard pick-six in the College Football Playoff Final against the Alabama Crimson Tide.

At the combine, he showed off with a blistering 4.36 40-yard dash, which was tied for the fifth-best 40 among defensive backs.

Putting him in a young secondary that already features Cobie Durant - who is coming off an impressive rookie season - and Ringo's former Georgia teammate Derion Kendrick is something that should excite Rams fans moving forward.
