DL Kobie Turner Signs Rookie Deal With Rams

Los Angeles Rams defensive lineman Kobie Turner signed his rookie deal on Friday, per Universal Sports Management.

The Rams selected the Turner with the 89th overall pick in this year's draft, hoping to add some depth to the front four.

The Wake Forest product recorded 38 tackles, including 10 for loss, three forced fumbles and two sacks in his lone year donning the gold and black uniform. Turner spent his first four collegiate seasons at the University of Richmond as a walk-on before transferring to the Demon Deacons in 2022.

NFL Network scouts liked the selection but critiqued Turner's 6-foot-2, 288-pound frame. However, they alluded to another undersized defensive tackle on the Rams that could be a good mentor.

"This is a real loose athlete along the interior and very quick," He's gonna play on the other side of the line of scrimmage. If you want to learn how to play that position a little bit undersized, Aaron Donald is obviously a pretty good guy to watch...This is a guy who says 'Nobody comes into our house and pushes us around.'"

Turner's already made an impact during OTAs, according to Rams coach Sean McVay.

"I think Kobie Turner on the defensive side of the ball, he's done an amazing job," Sean McVay said recently via the Rams' official website. I've really been impressed with just his professionalism. He shines. His relentless effort to the football and then being able to just understand the nuances of what we're asking of him."

Turner hopes to continue shining on the gridiron during training camp, starting July 29.

Edge rusher Byron Young is the lone rookie that is yet to sign with the Rams.
