'Nothing to it' LeSean McCoy Says About Rams QB Stafford's Connection Issue

In this story:
Kelly Stafford, the wife of Los Angeles Rams quarterback Matt Stafford, may have given fans a reason to worry about the upcoming season when she revealed recently on her podcast that her husband was having a hard time "connecting" with his new young teammates.
However, judging by recent comments from FS1's LeSean McCoy, who is one of the co-hosts of their daily sports talk show "Speak," is playing down the concern of the 35-year-old Stafford not being able to connect with his rookie teammates.
"I'm going to say there's nothing to it," McCoy said. "At the end of the day, you have a job to do. If we can't connect or not, we have a job to do. I think as a young player, the difference in that from an older player, maybe the wide receiver like Cooper Kupp and him have a different connection.
"But one of the young rookies could be looking to learn the offense and not get in the way of things, so this isn't a real big deal."
McCoy is right. They don't need to be best friends on the field. As long as they are out there competing and winning football games, then the Rams front office and coaching staff will be happy. But Stafford's potential frustration with teammates for being on their phones after practice and meetings, along with calling him "sir," is understandable.
For the first time since being drafted by the Detroit Lions, Stafford is on a team that seems to be in the midst of a rebuild, despite general manager Les Snead refusing to call it that.
Yet, McCoy isn't the only person who has brushed off the comments from Stafford's wife as even Rams coach Sean McVay shared little concern about his quarterback connecting with his teammates when asked about it on Tuesday.
“No, I'm not concerned because I think if you know Kelly, I took that as more of a joke at the old man, and I'll be honest, there's a couple throws that he made during training camp where I wanted to say, ‘Yes sir,’ to him as well," McVay said. "If you watch and if you come out to camp, this guy's done a phenomenal job of leading, connecting with his teammates."
