Familiar Face: Rams Sign RB Sony Michel

In this story:
Despite the emergence of Cam Akers at the end of the 2022 season, the Los Angeles Rams were still in need of some help in the running back room.
And on Tuesday, they addressed that issue, signing former running Sony Michel to a contract that will mark his second stint with the Rams, the team announced.
The terms of the deal have not yet been disclosed.
While Cam Akers will still likely be the favorite for the starting role heading into training camp, the addition of Michel will provide some much-needed depth and competition at the position alongside Kyren Williams and rookie Zach Evans.
Michel, who was part of the 2021 Super Bowl roster for the Rams, spent last season in Los Angeles with the Chargers, where he tallied 36 carries for 106 yards in 10 games in a reserve role behind star back Austin Ekeler.
In his final season with the Rams, Michel was the team's leading rusher, carrying the ball 208 times for 845 yards and four scores, with 21 catches for 128 yards and another score.
In his career, Michel has accumulated 779 rushes for 3,243 yards and 18 touchdowns along with 56 receptions for 439 yards and two receiving touchdowns during his five-year NFL career. He is also a two-time Super Bowl champ, winning his first title with the New England Patriots in 2018.
