Could Baltimore Ravens Halt Kansas City Chiefs' Three-Peat Attempts?

The Baltimore Ravens are one of the better teams in the AFC, but do they have enough to be the ones to halt the Chiefs' efforts of a historic three-peat?

The Baltimore Ravens and the Kansas City Chiefs met in the AFC Championship game last season, one that Patrick Mahomes and Co. would emerge victorious from 17-10.

With the Ravens having a superb regular season that also saw them claim a playoff win over the Houston Texans, the franchise fell short of its ultimate goal. Now, with free agency winding down and the NFL Draft coming into view, are the Ravens among the teams in the NFL that could halt the Chiefs' historic attempt at a three-peat?

Baltimore has the tools to do so, and in CBS Sports' fun exercise of listing teams who could halt the Chiefs' efforts, the Ravens have fallen into the 'honorable mention' category.

"The Baltimore Ravens could once again use more receiving help for reigning MVP Lamar Jackson," CBS Sports writes. "But Derrick Henry's bruising style should help the run game, and Justin Madubuike's return should help anchor the tough defense."

The Ravens worries at wide receiver are well documented and perhaps adding a low-cost free agency piece like Tyler Boyd could be seen as an option. Additionally, the arrival of Derrick Henry could take Baltimore's much-vaunted running game to another level, despite being the league's best last season.

It was in the AFC Championship game where the Ravens for reasons unbeknown to us, went away from the one thing that played a big part in them getting to that game - running the football. Lamar Jackson threw the football 37 times while there were only 16 rushing attempts, three of which were by receiver Zay Flowers, and eight were by Jackson - that simply won't cut it in the playoffs.

If the Ravens are to seriously challenge the Chiefs in the AFC, then perhaps sticking with their run game, that is now spearheaded by Henry is the way to go. Baltimore narrowly lost to the Chiefs last season, and with the addition of Henry, he could be the missing piece of the Ravens' potential Super Bowl tilt.
