Bengals Ex Tyler Boyd A Free Agent Option For Ravens?

Tyler Boyd is still a free agent and with the Baltimore Ravens needing more of a receiver threat on offense, could the franchise make a move for the former Bengals star?

The Baltimore Ravens under Todd Monken moved to a more vertical-style offense in 2023, with Lamar Jackson winning his second NFL MVP award.

With a supporting cast of Zay Flowers, Isaiah Likely, Odell Beckham Jr., Mark Andrews, Nelson Agholor, and Rashod Bateman as the receivers, Lamar and the Ravens ended the year with a 13-4 record and home field through the playoffs.

Now, we know what happened against the Kansas City Chiefs as the Ravens were dumped out of the postseason in the AFC Championship game, so now the franchise must find ways to get better.

Odell has already stated he won't be returning in 2024, so that leaves a hole in the receiving room. With Flowers, Bateman and Agholor as the only "receivers" of note, could the Ravens dip into the free agent market?

In NFL.com's top 101 free agents list which is updated daily, one name sticks out that hasn't been snapped up yet - Cincinnati Bengal Tyler Boyd.

"A nightmarish 2023 season likely ended Boyd’s great run with the Bengals," NFL.com wrote. "With a big slot skill set and a history of consistency before last year, he could be a fine buy-low candidate."

Despite having a down year, Boyd still managed to have the second-most receiving yards (667) and receptions (67) among Bengals players.

But his 667 yards is his lowest return for a season since his rookie year in 2016, which could help lower the asking price for his services, which is something that could interest Baltimore.

Per spotrac.com, Boyd has a market value of $8.7 million APY, so there is every chance that the Ravens could offer a slightly lower contract and still manage to secure his signature.

Still only 29 years of age, Boyd has shown to be a consistent contributor for the Bengals in his eight NFL seasons and with the Ravens needing another receiver to help ease the workload on Flowers and Andrews, a cost-effective Tyler Boyd might just fit the bill.

Players don't often swap teams within their division, but this offseason, it has been a regular occurrence - could we add Boyd swapping Cincinnati for Baltimore to the list?
