OBJ & Zay: WRs Star On Day 1 Of Ravens Training Camp

New receivers Odell Beckham Jr. and Zay Flowers stole the show on the first day of Baltimore Ravens training camp

Day 1 of Baltimore Ravens training camp is in the books, and one position group stole the show on Wednesday.

Baltimore's revamped receiving corps, which has undergone a huge shakeup this offseason, had an impressive showing in its first training camp. In particular, former Pro Bowler Odell Beckham Jr. and rookie first-round pick Zay Flowers were the media darlings, making big plays and earning high praise from teammates and coaches.

"It seems to me that Odell has a good plan, and I see him working himself on a schedule to be ready to start the season, and I think you saw that today," coach John Harbaugh told reporters. "It's interesting you noticed that, because that's exactly what I saw too...

"Zay has just been, I've [been] nothing but impressed with everything he's done," Harbaugh continued. "You kind of get the feel that he's not a rookie. You get the feel like he's a veteran, he's very mature."

No Raven is happier to see the receivers doing well than star quarterback Lamar Jackson. The Ravens haven't been able to surround Jackson with many great receivers in his time as the starter, but have focused on giving him better talent this offseason. After a strong showing on Wednesday, Jackson is feeling good about his new weapons.

"Those guys, I feel like those guys are ready," Jackson said. "I knew they were going to come in ready. Zay, his new name is Joystick because he be moving out there so swift and making stuff happen. His new name is Joystick, we'll call him Joystick not Zay."

It's not just the offense that's feeling good about the receivers, but the defense as well. Cornerback Marlon Humphrey has the privilege of going up against both Beckham and Flowers, and he believes the duo is going to be special.

"I think the sky's the limit for our receiving corps," Humphrey said.

Receiver has been a position of weakness for the Ravens in recent seasons, and although it's still very early, it seems those issues may finally be a thing of the past.
