Jesse Minter Eyes Additions to Ravens While Addressing Offensive Line Concerns

In this story:
The loss of center Tyler Linderbaum is one the Ravens will think about for awhile this season.
Losing a versatile offensive lineman Baltimore drafted immediately after his rookie contract expired is not ideal. Linderbaum also played center, which is a position with so few elite players already. Linderbaum was drafted by Baltimore with the 25th overall pick in the first round of the 2022 NFL Draft. The center went on to make three Pro Bowl games in four years for Baltimore.
Despite Linderbaum starting all 17 games for the Ravens this past season, the offensive line still allowed 45 sacks. The 45 sacks put the Ravens within the bottom third of the league. The Ravens are known in recent history for protecting their quarterbacks with linemen like Marshal Yanda, Kevin Zeitler, Orlando Brown Jr., and even Morgan Moses.
It's only fair that the media ask head coach Jesse Minter about his plans to address the offensive line's development and improvement.

Bringing John Simpson back in free agency
Veteran guard John Simpson signed back to the Baltimore Ravens on a three-year deal worth $30 million this past March. Simpson started 17 games for the Ravens in 2023 and he's started every game for the past three seasons. Simpson spent the past two seasons blocking for quarterbacks like Geno Smith, Gardner Minshew, and Aidan O'Connell on the Las Vegas Raiders. He returns to blocking for superstar quarterback Lamar Jackson.
Head coach Jesse Minter noted Simpson's return when addressing concerns fans and media members have about the offensive line.
"We added John [Simpson], and I think there's a lot of time between now and September to continue to add pieces. There are a multitude of ways that you can still add pieces with free agency and the draft, obviously. I know Ozzie [Newsome] always said, 'It's a long time between now and the early part of September when you're playing.' "Ravens head coach Jesse Minter
Ravens Executive Vice President of Player Personnel Ozzie Newsome is correct. The offseason is extremely long and lots high-impact fine tuning to many rosters will take place from now until opening night.
Minter confident in the current group
Minter not only has a strong belief that the roster can improve from outside the building, but he's extremely confident in the way his coaching staff can develop the current offensive line unit before the season starts.
"I am super confident in the group that we have in place right now. I am super confident that those guys will work really hard this offseason, that we'll put together a good offensive line and that we'll continue to add pieces throughout the roster that we feel will help us become the best team we can be."Ravens head coach Jesse Minter
The Ravens current groups consists of guard Andrew Vorhees, 2019 all-pro first team tackle Ronnie Stanley, tackle Roger Rosengarden, and center Danny Pinter. Expect General Manager Eric DeCosta and the rest of the Ravens front office to prioritize offensive linemen depth in this year's draft along with receivers, pass rusher, and defensive backs.
