NEW ORLEANS — The roster cuts have begun.

After playing the final preseason game Thursday, the New Orleans Saints have until 3 p.m. Central time Saturday to trim their roster from 90 to 53 players.

The NFL transaction wire posted Friday listed 17 transactions for the Saints, not counting the one-day contract for retiring offensive lineman Jermon Bushrod.

Among the notable transactions were the release of running back Jacquizz Rodgers, an eight-year veteran who played most of his career with the Falcons and Buccaneers.

Among players put on waivers were former LSU wideout Travin Dural, who was on the team practice squad last season, and former LSU track and field athlete Cyril Grayson Jr.

The Saints also put three linebackers on injured reserve, including Will Compton and Colton Jumper, who both played in the preseason finale Thursday against the Dolphins.
