Seahawks' Austin Blythe Announces Sudden Retirement: 'Here We Come!'

In this story:
Seattle Seahawks center Austin Blythe announced his sudden retirement on Tuesday through a lengthy message on Instagram.
Blythe, 30, was set to hit free agency this offseason, but has now decided to end his playing career instead, and it seems like something he's excited for.
"Retirement here we come!" Blythe said to cap off his retirement message.
Here's some of what the now former Seahawk had to say:
"I always told myself I wouldn’t do some long winded retirement post, but I’m not sure how to leave behind a game that’s afforded myself, and my family, so many opportunities without giving it at least some words," Blythe wrote. The last seven years have been nothing short of amazing."
Blythe was drafted by the Indianapolis Colts in the seventh round in 2016. He was waived a year later before being claimed by the Los Angeles Rams, who he played all 16 games with in 2017.
After playing in LA from 2017 through 2020, Blythe spent one season with the Kansas City Chiefs in 2021 before joining Seattle last offseason.
He now steps away from the game with one last emotional goodbye.
"The game has been a huge part of our lives for the last 12 years, dating all the way back to college," he wrote. "For everything the game has taught me about life, I will cherish it forever."
