New Seahawks DT Dre'Mont Jones Bashes Broncos: 'A Lot of Drama!'

While his new three-year, $51 million deal certainly seemed to have an effect on Dre'Mont Jones' excitement to join the Seattle Seahawks, his eagerness to leave the Denver Broncos may have now became more clear after recent comments he made.

Former Denver Broncos defensive tackle Dre'Mont Jones wasted no time updating his Twitter bio and sending out an official tweet after news broke Monday that he'd be signing with the Seattle Seahawks.

"I’m a mf Hawk Let’s Go!!" Jones tweeted.

While the new three-year, $51 million deal certainly seemed to have an effect on Jones' excitement, his eagerness to leave the place he had called home for the past four years became more clear after recent comments he made during an appearance on Seattle 710 Sports Radio.

"To keep it short, it was a lot more hectic than any of us probably wanted it to be," Jones said. " ... It was probably more hectic than what I'd like it to be. Just too much going on. There was a lot of drama. Unnecessary. Football didn't seem as important as it needed to be at one point, and that sucks because that's coming from a place that I really grew to appreciate."

After Denver traded for Seattle quarterback Russell Wilson in a blockbuster trade last March, the future trajectories of the Broncos and Seahawks were fixing to become opposites of one another.

This ended up becoming true ... but not in the way most would've expected.

While the Seahawks made a surprising run to the postseason with Geno Smith, who broke multiple franchise single-season passing records previously held by Wilson, the Broncos played like arguably the worst team in the league with their newly-acquired quarterback before finishing with a 5-12 record.

Jones was drafted by the Broncos in 2019 and went on to experience three straight losing seasons. But sudden championship hopes arrived headed into his fourth year once the Wilson trade went through in the spring of 2022.

But instead, more losing. Jones had already experienced one five-win season in his career and now had another on his team résumé.

He now wants fans to realize that acquiring the talent of Wilson hardly meant any guarantee at success, seeming to cite a lack of "trust" as something that might've plagued the Broncos this past season.

"I don't know what people don't realize, like this is not Madden," Jones said. "You can't just plug pieces in and expect it to work. You've got to have that trust, that bond, and just to be able to work together is overly important. ... If I don't feel like I know you, or I don't feel comfortable with you, it won't work out."

Jones hasn't played a snap with the Seahawks yet, but there already seems to be a different vibe around him as he prepares to head to Seattle.

While it isn't the NFL without a little bit of drama, it might be safe to say his first year in Seattle likely won't be as distracting as this past season in Denver was.
