As the Mike Macdonald era begins in the northwest new names will join him as he fills out his staff in Seattle. Former Huskies play caller Ryan Grubb was named as offensive coordinator after an extensive search that included some NFL names.

One person tied to the job was former Commanders and Chiefs offensive coordinator Eric Bieniemy.

Ultimately, it looks like Bieniemy will miss out on a coordinator position in the league in 2024, but he might've been closer to the Seattle job than we were previously aware of.

Adam Schefter revealed that Bieniemy was considered for the head coaching position in Washington as well as the offensive coordinator job in Seattle.

"There were offensive coordinator jobs that he was very quietly involved with that ultimately he didn't get in the end," Schefter said. "He was a candidate in Seattle, to begin with. That came down to the end there."

Bieniemy took over the offense in Washington under head coach Ron Rivera - who is also looking for a coordinator position in the league for 2024 - and the Commanders didn't make much progress. The Washington offense finished No. 25 in scoring and No. 24 in yards.

Bieniemy made a name for himself in Kansas City as the offensive coordinator from 2018 through 2022 where he helped develop Patrick Mahomes and the Chiefs to one of the top offenses in the league.
