Alabama QB Bryce Young to 'Meet Privately' with Seahawks GM, Coaches

Seattle Seahawks coach Pete Carroll and general manager John Schneider were among four key staff members to hold a private meeting with former Alabama star and projected top-two NFL Draft pick Bryce Young at the Crimson Tide's Pro Day.

The Seattle Seahawks' brass is off to a busy start to the annual Pro Day season leading into the NFL Draft - and their latest stop was at the University of Alabama, where 125 evaluators from across the league gathered.

Crimson Tide quarterback Bryce Young was the star attraction, followed by outside linebacker Will Anderson Jr., running back Jahmyr Gibbs and defensive back Brian Branch.

And the Seahawks appear to have one particular name in mind from the group.

Per Sports Illustrated, Young will "meet privately" later Thursday with several key figures on Seattle's staff, including general manager John Schneider, coach Pete Carroll, offensive coordinator Shane Waldron and quarterbacks coach Greg Olson.

The same core met with another top signal caller in C.J. Stroud at Ohio State's pro day on Wednesday.

Despite giving quarterback Geno Smith a three-year contract prior to the start of free agency, the Seahawks are reportedly firmly in the mix to draft a passer with the No. 5 overall pick, with ESPN noting it "could definitely" happen.

Further, Carroll has spoken at length about this exact possibility and made it clear his staff will do its due diligence.

"The position we're in, we are totally connected to the quarterbacks that are coming out," Carroll said at the NFL Combine. "This is a really huge opportunity for us. It's a rare opportunity."

If nothing else, the Seahawks are certainly "connected" with this crop of quarterbacks, as the visits with Stroud and Young indicate.

Seattle likely won't get a chance to select either player, as they're viewed as heavy favorites to be drafted No. 1 and No. 2 overall, respectively, but the pro day cycle still provides a chance to get to know the players as people, which could come up again years down the line.

Ultimately, whether the Seahawks choose to draft a quarterback at No. 5 overall remains to be seen - but thus far, they're certainly exhausting resources to explore this "rare opportunity."
