Seattle Seahawks Release Statement After Kansas City Chiefs Super Bowl Parade Shooting: 'Our Hearts Are Broken'

What was supposed to be a day of celebration in the NFL turned into tragedy in Kansas City on Wednesday after one person died and 22 others, including eight children, were injured after shots were fired during the Chiefs' Super Bowl parade.

The Seattle Seahawks joined many other squads around the league that released statements to show support for the team and community.

"Our hearts are broken. Sending love to Chiefs Kingdom, the Kansas City community, and everyone affected by today's senseless act," the statement read.

Stephanie Meyer, senior vice president and chief nursing officer at Children’s Mercy in Kansas City, said that none of the injured children are in critical condition and all are expected to make a full recovery.

While a tragedy is never easy to handle, hearing positive news like this is a huge sigh of relief considering things could have been much worse.

The Chiefs also said that all of their players and family members are safe and accounted for after the shooting.
