Seahawks vs. Vikings NFL Preseason: How to Watch, Betting Odds

It's the first of three preseason games for the Seattle Seahawks, and they open the exhibition season by hosting the Minnesota Vikings on Thursday night at Lumen Field. The Seahawks surpassed everyone's expectations in what was presumed to be a down year after the team shipped off the face of the franchise in quarterback Russell Wilson to Denver.

But Seattle went 9-8, made the postseason, and new starting quarterback Geno Smith played better than Wilson did in Denver, earning the NFL Comeback Player of the Year award, and setting several career-high marks and franchise single-season passing records along the way.

Smith was rewarded with a new contract and will be the starter moving forward. He'll be joined by the likes of new draftees Devon Witherspoon, Jaxon Smith-Njigba, Derick Hall, and Zach Charbonnet (among others), as well as newly-signed players like Dre’Mont Jones, Julian Love, and some guy named Bobby Wagner.

The Vikings on the other hand are in a bit of a different position after winning the NFC North last season under first-year coach Kevin O'Connell with a 13-4 record. But it was all for naught in an embarrassing 31-24 loss to the New York Giants in the Wild Card round of the NFC playoffs.

Minnesota has had some significant turnover on the roster after cutting ties with running back Dalvin Cook and wideout Adam Thielen.
