Duane Brown, Ziggy Ansah Headline Seahawks Inactives Versus Ravens

After going through pre-game workouts, the Seahawks have ruled out tackle Duane Brown and defensive end Ziggy Ansah for Sunday’s Week 7 matchup against the Ravens.

Battling a nagging biceps injury, Brown sat out Seattle’s 32-28 win over Cleveland last weekend and didn’t return to practice this week. Still, he was listed as questionable and coach Pete Carroll indicated he’d be a game-time decision.

Ansah will miss his third regular season game after spraining his ankle while returning a fumble against the Browns. He missed the Seahawks first two practices of the week before improving to a limited participant on Friday and was listed as questionable on the final injury report.

As already reported, Seattle will also be without the services of starting strong safety Bradley McDougald and reserve Lano Hill. McDougald missed the entire week of practice due to back spasms, while Hill injured his elbow and could miss several weeks.

With Ansah and McDougald unavailable, the Seahawks top two draft picks, L.J. Collier and Marquise Blair, should see extensive snaps on defense. Blair is expected to replace McDougald in the starting lineup and Collier will be in line to take some of Ansah’s snaps at defensive end.

In the good news department, guard D.J. Fluker will be available after sitting out last week’s game with a hamstring injury, but it remains to be seen whether he or second-year lineman Jamarco Jones will earn the start. Defensive end Quinton Jefferson will also suit up despite being limited at practice by an oblique injury.

Wrapping up Seattle’s inactives list, receivers Gary Jennings and John Ursua will still have to wait at least one more week to dress again. Both players have combined to play two offensive snaps through the first seven weeks of the season.
