Returning to practice on Monday after a week off, the Seahawks anticipate star receiver Tyler Lockett will have a good shot at returning from a leg injury for Sunday’s Week 12 matchup against the Eagles.

“He’s doing better. He’s doing better,” coach Pete Carroll updated. “We’ll know later in the week his status. We’re hoping and planning on him being able to play, but yet, he has to show it to us. So, we’ll see.”

Lockett, who was rushed to the Stanford Hospital immediately after last Monday’s 27-24 win over the 49ers with a lower leg contusion, spent two days under observation before flying back to Seattle. The team chose an ultra-cautious approach due of concerns he could develop compartment syndrome, swelling of muscles that restricts blood flow and can damage muscle and nerve cells.

Fortunately, Lockett showed improvements within 24 hours and according to Carroll, he’s out of the woods now and the Seahawks remain optimistic about his chances of suiting up this weekend.

“He’s really on the road to recovery now. He’s past that,” Carroll said. “That was just the initial concern. We’re very fortunate that we were at a great place. They took great care of him and all that. Everything worked out fine. Now, he’s just on the road back. We’re optimistic about it, but he’s still going to have to do it.”

While Lockett’s prognosis appears to be a good one, the same can’t be said for tight end Luke Willson, who Carroll indicated will likely need extended time to recover from a strained hamstring suffered against the 49ers.

“Luke’s working at it. It’s going to take Luke a bit. I don’t think he’ll have a chance to make it back this week. So, we’ll see what happens there.”

After losing starter Will Dissly to a season-ending Achilles injury, Seattle would love to have Willson available. Luckily, veteran Ed Dickson has been practicing for the past two weeks and should be ready to return to the active roster after spending the first 10 games on injured reserve recovering from knee surgery.

Dickson could’ve been activated each of the last two weeks and in order for him to be eligible to play this season, the Seahawks will have to add him to the 53-man roster by Wednesday. But Carroll anticipates there’s a good chance that’ll happen due to the likelihood Willson will miss at least one game.

“We’ve been waiting for the opportunity to get Ed to go.” Carroll said. “If that happens, we’re thinking that that’s where we’d go with this. We’ll give it a couple days here.”
