Could Steelers Make Eric Bieniemy Next Coaching Hire?

A late addition to the free agency pool, the Pittsburgh Steelers could jump on the chance to hire Eric Bieniemy.

PITTSBURGH -- The Pittsburgh Steelers hired Arthur Smith as their new offensive coordinator and are bringing in candidates for assistant roles within their offensive coaching staff.

So far, the team is set to interview three candidates, but a late name be the best fit for what they're looking for. With the Washington Commanders hiring Kliff Kingsbury as their offensive coordinator, the team is set to move on from Eric Bieniemy. If the Steelers are interested in a pass-game coordinator with plenty of success in the NFL - especially with developing quarterbacks - they may have their new favorite for the position.

The Steelers may have to move quickly to land Bieniemy after hitting the open market. The former Kansas City Chiefs OC interviewed for the Commanders head coaching job, and will likely be a hot name for any team still looking for offensive hires.

For those unaware of his NFL tenure, Bieniemy spent this past season with the Commanders, with followed five years and two Super Bowl wins, with the Chiefs.

The Las Vegas Raiders and Seattle Seahawks are currently the only teams left on the market for an OC. The Raiders, however, are expected to hire Chicago Bears OC Luke Getsy.

The Steelers seem interested in bringing in another big name for their passing-game coordinator, and it makes a ton of sense for them to consider Bieniemy. With his work alongside Andy Reid, his help in developing Patrick Mahomes and the success he's had as an NFL play-caller, especially throwing the football, why wouldn't they look his way?

With Bieniemy, Mike Vrabel and a few other big names still available for hire, maybe the Steelers begin to look at a few superstar coaches to add to their staff in 2024.
