Jaguars Players Slam Steelers' George Pickens After Loss

Jacksonville's defenders didn't hold back after beating the Pittsburgh Steelers.

PITTSBURGH -- Prior to the Pittsburgh Steelers Week 8 matchup with the Jacksonville Jaguars, George Pickens and some Jaguars defensive backs exchanged words through the media.

Jacksonville's Rayshawn Jenkins said that Pickens has yet to play their cornerbacks, and he expected them to hold their own. Pickens replied by calling Jacksonville's secondary a "hope defense," meaning they need to hope the defensive line plays well.

After the game, Jaguars defenders couldn't hold back and ranted about their thoughts on Pickens's smack talk.

"Man, truly, he needs some advice moving forward," Andrew Wingard told Mia O’Brien of 1010XL. “You never put pressure, expectation on yourself. He did that. If hoping is getting a dub, we’ll take the dub. You don’t fire up a bunch of hungry dogs. It’s not smart. George, do better."

"Man, you know, the hope," Jenkins said. “Our defense was going to do whatever, I don’t know how they thought we were going to come in and play. But we would’ve hoped that they would come in and put up a better fight than that. He’s a young player, but you can’t chat before the game. You can’t do that. You have to walk the walk."

This came after the Jaguars social media team roasted Pickens by posting a meme mocking him and the Terrible Towel.

Unless the two teams meet in the postseason, this beef is likely behind them moving forward. But if they do end up as playoff foes, it'll be interesting to see how both sides react to each other.
