PITTSBURGH -- Pittsburgh Steelers wide receiver George Pickens was flagged twice in Week 7, one for a blindside block and the other for a taunting penalty. And with both coming in crucial moments of a tight game, some notable names have discussed the situation and the costly penalties.

One of those who commented on the penalty was former quarterback and future Hall of Famer Ben Roethlisberger, who would like to see the penalty issues addressed before they continue.

"We probably need to talk at some point about the negative plays by receivers in terms of unsportsmanlike conduct penalties," Roethlisberger said on the latest episode of his podcast Footbahlin'. "George, again. And that could have been crucial. He gets a big play and then does a taunt, and Mike pats him on the butt, tells him to get back in there. I just don’t know how long do we allow that to keep happening because it didn’t end up hurting the team, but what if it did?"

Roethlisberger said he didn't believe Pickens was trying to hurt anyone with his blindside block. However, "now, he's [Pickens] gotta know the rules."

"It seems like it’s almost every week that we’re having something like that happen…do we just keep allowing that stuff?" he said. "You’ve gotta put a stop to it now before it gets out of control."

The former quarterback believes the team will address the situation in a meeting to try and reel in the penalties moving forward. Of course, in classic Tomlin fashion.

"Coach Tomlin might just, ‘See that rug’ and lift that up and sweep it under there," Roethlisberger said. "I’ve seen him do it in the past with guys. I’ll put up with you until I can replace you."

But overall, Big Ben would just like to see an end to the costly drive killers for the Steelers offense, and believes if they're fixed, they'll allow a player to Pickens to thrive even more.

"George Pickens is an absolute animal. He’s a game-changer. He’s a difference maker," Roethlisberger said. "But gotta get under control before it gets out of control. … I just don’t wanna see someone with that much talent lose it like that. Because he is so good."
